The approval unlocks construction on the long-planned mental health upgrade for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, backed by £50m of government funding.
The project will combine refurbishment of bedrooms on two existing wards to deliver full en-suite provision with a new modular two-storey ward block built by McAvoy.
Architect P+HS said the plans were shaped with input from service users as well as clinical and estates teams, with a focus on natural light, outdoor space and calmer internal layouts.
Trust chief executive Therese Patten said: “This is an important milestone for the Trust and for the people who rely on our mental health services.
“The redevelopment of the central block will bring significant improvements to Lynfield Mount Hospital, to create a facility that supports the recovery and wellbeing of service users, and a better working environment for staff.”
